Nominations are Accepted
in January

Nominees for the Pittsburgh Walk of Fame may be living or deceased. They may come from any number of fields, including but not limited to art, science, politics, music, philanthropy, film, medicine, industry, dance, sports, entertainment, education, journalism, broadcasting, and theater.

Nominees must meet two criteria:

Nomination Process

The public is invited to submit nominations throughout the month of January.

This can most effectively be done via the online form below. But nominations may also be emailed to nominate@pittsburghwalkoffame.org or sent in letter form to the Pittsburgh Walk of Fame office. Please include the nominee’s name, field of expertise and/or major accomplishment, connection to the Pittsburgh region, and—this is key—his or her national impact on American culture. In addition, we require the name of the person making the nomination and a valid email address or phone number.

Nominations may be mailed to:
Pittsburgh Walk of Fame
P.O. Box 8127
Pittsburgh, PA 15217

OR, fill out the form below.
All nominations must be received by January 31 to be considered for induction this year.

SELECTION PROCESS

After the nomination period has closed, qualified names that were submitted are presented to a selection committee for consideration. Members of the committee have an informed understanding of the Pittsburgh region’s cultural heritage and represent various races, ethnicities, genders, and backgrounds. They include leaders from colleges and universities, cultural institutions, news outlets, historical societies, chambers of commerce, community development associations, and tourism bureaus from the 10-county Southwestern Pennsylvania area.

Based on votes by the selection committee, the board of directors of the Pittsburgh Walk of Fame makes the final determination regarding the new class of inductees. The names of the honorees are announced in the spring, and an induction ceremony is held in the fall.
